We sheep have a long and noble ancestry, going back to the Bovid family of nearly 4 million years ago. Our nearest relatives are goats, but we diverged from them during the Ice Ages. They prefer the tops of mountains, we enjoy the valleys. So everything was fine and balanced for millions of years.
But then, humans.
They were stronger and nimbler than us, plus they were armed. We wild, noble and independent sheep didn’t have a chance. Over the 10,000 years since then we have been “domesticated”.
The good old days are over.
